POC is proud to release a brand-new helmet, Calyx, its first helmet certified for skiing, mountaineering, and cycling.
Taking inspiration from POC’s heritage in snow sports and cycling, the Calyx has been developed as a truly multi-functional helmet for skiing, mountaineering and cycling. Using a host of POC’s innovations in performance and protection, the Calyx is designed to protect users whether they are riding around town or ascending and descending the mountain.
Commenting on the Calyx, POC’s Chief Product Officer, Oscar Huss, said:“As equipment advances more skiers and snowboarders are venturing into the back country, which often includes periods of climbing and mountaineering. As a protection company our priority is safety and we wanted to create a helmet that was as versatile as its users. It not only challenges the conventional approach to helmet design and certification, but it also introduces a host of new solutions, such as ascent and descent ventilation and pack mode. We are incredibly proud of what the Calyx can do, and for many it will be the one helmet that will protect from the door to the summit. And back again.”

Thanks to its development and design approach, the Calyx is a helmet that will shine in skiing/snowboarding, mountaineering, and cycling environments, and can easily be used to cycle to the lift area, and from there to the back country. Equally it can be used solely for skiing laps, playing in the park at a ski resort, taking a day to focus on climbing skills, or on the daily commute in the city to and from the office. Its ventilation system and ease of personalization, using a modular design, means it will fit naturally into its needed role and landscape.
The Calyx and Calyx Carbon have been designed and certified for skiing, mountaineering and cycling. All three certification standards are different and require international certifications designed for their specific use. Ski and Cycling certifications are well known, and although the precise requirements vary depending on territory, they are widely used and centered on a drop test to determine the helmet’s safety and ability to manage impacts. Certifying for mountaineering requires an altogether different testing and development process as the helmets must be able to withstand significant falling and penetrative forces, which could occur during a rock fall.
At first glance it may look like a regular ski helmet, but behind the Calyx’s clean look hides a host of advanced technical and material details, such as the innovative use of a fabric weave which protects the helmet, manages airflow, and supports a whole new silhouette. To achieve this multi certification requires an array of materials which are all fine-tuned to meet their required need. The Calyx and Calyx Carbon both feature an optimized dual density EPS liner for enhanced protection. The ABS and Carbon shells of the Calyx have exceptional strength, durability and impact resistance and feature variable material thicknesses across the helmet to optimize weight and strength performance. The Carbon shell naturally offers even more strength and durability at a lower weight.
The Calyx’s ventilation system is designed to keep air moving and maintain an optimal temperature, whether you are going up the mountain on skins, going downhill in the resort, or biking around town on the weekend. Specifically, the linear channels inside the helmet have been inspired by POC’s road and mountain bike helmets, which allow the air to flow freely over the head. POC’s cycling helmets have also inspired the vent holes at the top of the helmet, which are designed to help hot air escape when you are walking or climbing by using a chimney effect. The Calyx also has a three-stage integrated ventilation adjustment allowing each user to fine tune to their own needs and preferences.
To create a versatile helmet, fit for all the disciplines, requires an ability to personalize and adapt the helmet for each use. This is an idea that is central to the Calyx’s development. The goggle clip, foldable ear pads and neck warmer, are all designed for simple removal and re-installation depending on the need of the user, particular activity, or season.
The fit system used on the Calyx offers the same expected fit, adjustment and comfort as found on many POC helmets. Simply adjusting the rear wheel allows the user to fine tune the fit for comfort and feel. The interior padding is also designed to be easily removed if more room is needed when used with a headwear, without having any Velcro left inside the helmet. The system also incorporates a three-stage vertical adjustment to tune even more specifically. And new to the Calyx is a fully retractable fit system. The adjustment system can be pushed wholly into the helmet for a ‘pack mode’ which is an important consideration when using the helmet on the mountain or storing for transportation.
POC helmets often incorporate a host of additional safety features, and the Calyx is no different. Seamlessly integrated into the helmet is a RECCO® rescue reflector which helps rescue services quickly locate a user if they are lost on the mountain or if they are caught in an avalanche. Further, rotational impact protection is enhanced through the inclusion of the trusted Mips Evolve system.
Two attachment clips on each earpad keeps them more secure. The foldable ear pads are highly flexible and thanks to the specific design of the exterior and can be folded inwards for packing and transportation. Easily removable they have been designed precisely with the helmet silhouette to ensure that the user can decide to use the helmet with or without ear pads according to the weather conditions, with the included neck warmer or your personal favourite headwear.
The helmet is designed and delivered with a bespoke neck warmer, giving each user the ability to decide on their preferred option and approach to using the helmet and accessories.
All POC helmets are designed with our Seamless Fit. From the very beginning of the development process, we work to ensure our helmets and goggles work together as one, in perfect harmony confident that no matter how hard you push them, or how deep you journey into the mountains, they will always work. There is no interference, no compromise of the experience or performance, just a seamless fit. The Calyx is no different, especially when paired with the brand new Vitrea or Nexal goggle.

Beaming with protection and visibility POC release its latest version of the hugely popular Omne helmet, the Omne Beacon, which will be unveiled on Thursday November 2 at the Rouleur Live show in London.
Developed to give riders even more security and visibility in dark and low-light conditions, the Omne Beacon integrates a rechargeable LED rear light and additional reflective details. With a clear focus on usability and a seamless design, the Omne Beacon— which is developed from the original the Omne Air—provides riders with extra protection all packaged inside the same Omne helmet design.
Commenting on the new Omne Beacon, Director of hard goods at POC, Magnus Gustafsson, said: “We often say that the safest helmet is the one you choose to wear and with the Omne Beacon we wanted to take that idea further by providing even more protection integrated in our existing Omne platform. We set out to create a seamless integration of the rechargeable rear LED light which would be simple and intuitive to use, so riders can always choose enhanced protection.”
The Omne Beacon brings a new appreciation of integrated protection with its rechargeable rear LED light that has a host of modes and running times. Combined with reflective details and high-contrast colour options, it’s a helmet that enhances protection by increasing awareness and visibility to ensure that riders can be seen clearly by other road users.
The Omne Beacon can be used throughout the year, but it also provides the ideal tool to support riders who want to ride and train through the seasons with greater peace of mind. The run time on a single charge is more than thirty hours in blinking mode.
In addition to the integrated LED light, the Omne Beacon features an EPS liner which is optimized for the perfect balance between low weight and safety. Additional technology such as Mips complements the adjustable 360° fit system which provides a precise fit and comfort.
The aero influenced ventilation ports and a semi-shell construction contribute to a helmet that strikes the perfect balance of speed and ventilation and includes a slimmer profile, thanks to the precise depth in core zones of the liner and the optimized coverage of the helmet shell.
- Integrated Light - The helmet features an integrated light to help ensure others can easily see you in low light conditions. The light is operated manually and charges via a USB-C connection.
- LED Brightness - Vivid mode: 32 Lumens, Steady mode: 24 Lumens, Blinking mode: 24 Lumens.
- Rated IP55, ingress protection against water and dust.
- LED approximate battery duration Vivid mode: ~13hrs, Steady mode: ~17hrs, Blinking mode: ~32hrs.
- A full charge takes approximately 4h.
- EPS Liner - A lightweight EPS liner gives optimized protection.
- PC Shell - The PC shell enhances the structural integrity of the helmet.
- Adjustable 360° fit - A 360° adjustment system makes it easy to find a secure, comfortable fit.
- Mips Integra - Mips Integra seamlessly and almost invisibly integrates rotational impact protection into the helmet.
- Precision fit helmet straps.
- Reflective details to enhance visibility.
- Contrast colours to improve prominence on the road.
- Slimmer profile – thanks to precise depth in core zones of the liner and the optimized coverage of the helmet shell.
Magnus Gustafsson, added: “To deliver on our safety mission our helmets are all developed with our ‘whole helmet’ safety concept at the center of our design process; using optimized materials and design throughout the helmet. Our ‘Omne’ helmets are always evolving and have been created to the optimal balance of weight, ventilation, comfort and fit. And with their incredible versatility they are tuned to support a variety of riders and riding needs.”
The Omne Air features an EPS liner which is optimized for the perfect balance between low weight and safety, developed around POC’s whole helmet concept to optimising materials and design.
The aero-influenced ventilation ports and a semi-shell construction contribute to a helmet that strikes the perfect balance of speed and ventilation and includes a slimmer profile, thanks to the precise depth in core zones of the liner and the optimized coverage of the helmet shell.
In addition, several innovations and technologies, such as a 360° adjustment system and unique precision fit straps create a comfortable and precise helmet. The Omne Air Resistance is built on the same foundations as the Omne Air but has been specifically designed for multipurpose use, and the POCito Omne Air features all the same technology with highly visible fluorescent colors that attract attention from a distance, so others notice child cyclists earlier. Reflective detailing makes it even easier for the helmet to grab attention.
Built from award-winning technologies and innovations the Omne Lite is a natural first step towards a greater performance focus for a rider by offering lightweight, optimised protection. Based on the Omne Air platform, the helmet is lighter with more ventilation, which will translate to extra comfort. This is achieved by optimizing the area covered by the PC shell area to save weight, and the addition of ventilation exhausts to the rear improve airflow through the helmet, supporting enhanced comfort, particularly in hotter conditions.
The Omne Ultra is something different. Designed to provide enhanced personalization and inspiration for those extended adventures on your bike. The Omne Ultra embodies the spirit of cycling, to make your own decisions, finding your own path and creating an individual perspective. Based on the Omne Air platform, the helmet features versatile attachment points, straps and velcro so riders could add a rain cover, an ID patch or even store small items before or after a ride. Created as an integral tool for the ride as well as enhanced protection, there are no limits to how you could improvise with it.
Another Omne to grab attention is the Omne Eternal, a first of its kind as it can charge itself from any light, indoors and outdoors. The result is when you want to ride, your light is always charged and ready. All powered by clean, endless energy.

POC is delighted to unveil its new Fall/Winter 23/24 cycling collection, focused on products that embrace the extremes, enhance protection, and prolong the seasons.
Created to provide road, gravel, mountain bike and urban riders with the best apparel for extreme conditions, the innovations in the collection provide the performance and protection building blocks for those riders who want to turn the off-season on.
Harsh wet conditions or freezing temperatures can feel extreme, but they need not stop riders from taking on the elements. Layering up properly, especially through layering combinations and with an awareness of ride intensity, the collection can motivate riders, give the ability to manage the cold, enhance the warmth and open new riding opportunities.

Photo: Alex Duffill & Alice Alphrey |
Focusing on layers and the challenges posed by mixed conditions, Karin Johansson, Fabric R&D manager at POC, said: “Nothing beats the satisfaction of defying the elements on a long ride in wet, muddy and windy conditions. Whether it's mountain bike or road riding the simple reality is that with the correct apparel and layering, we can all turn cold to warmth, keep dry and open new riding opportunities.”
Photo: Ryan Creary | Photo: Maja Johansson |
Keeping warm during winter rides is a must, as is staying visible, which is an essential component of POC’s protection and safety. Apparel Director at POC, Monica Lindstrom - “We wanted to create a depth in the collection that would give more riders the security and inspiration to take on all conditions. From experience, we know that some of the best days on a bike come from the worst weather, and living in Sweden we have a special insight into the cold and the importance of visibility to safety.”
Developed to protect with warmth and enhanced visibility, the collection is built on specific colours that stand out in all conditions, to aid proactive protection and build on the principle that the best protection comes from avoiding accidents altogether.
Photo: POC Sports | Photo: Emrik Jansson |
Outdoor riding during the winter months is unique and offers a special perspective, but due to time, training effectiveness, focus, virtual racing, and maybe even a preference for riding in hot weather, many riders will still prefer to ride indoors.
Designed to improve indoor riding and aid performance, POC’s indoor collection features extremely breathable fabrics designed for the precise indoor riding position and intensity. Introducing the range, Monica Lindstrom, Apparel Director, POC, added: “It might appear static from the outside, but intense indoor sessions are unique and dynamic and have very specific position, weight and breathability needs, which we have addressed with our indoor collection.”
Photo: POC Sports | Photo: Maja Johansson |
An essential element of the range is the focus on Women’s, Men’s, and Youth styles. All with extremely breathable, ride-specific, and reinforced products that cover the needs of MTB, road, gravel, and urban riders.
With a range of colours, the collection supports POC’s objective to build on existing colours and new collections as an evolution of the colour palette. Taking this approach encourages a more sustainable focus, allowing riders to match new and existing seasons and collections together, ensuring that individual pieces can be used over multiple seasons and years.

POC is happy to release its new 23/24 Winter season collection featuring a host of new products, updates to renowned styles and new seasonal colours.
Leading out the new collection is the brand new Vitrea, an advanced and innovative ski goggle which features a unique lens changing mechanism, allowing the lens to be swapped in seconds, even whilst wearing gloves.
The Vitrea is joined by the brand new ‘Speedy Dolcezza’ junior ski racing collection which introduces a new perspective to the joys of performance. Seasonal colours are introduced to many goggle, apparel, bags and helmet styles and the collection also features new inspirations in the form of updated signature series collections for Hedvig Wessel and Jeremy Jones/POW.
Commenting on the new Vitrea goggles, Tilda Hall, Product Manager Eyewear & Goggles said, “We go into the process of product development with very open minds and specific problems to address. By applying a completely blank sheet to our thinking we can explore and introduce novel innovations and solutions, such as seen in the Vitrea, which uses a new approach to solve a well-known problem, making lens changing quicker and easier. The weather can change in an instant, and being able to change a lens even quicker will improve vision and safety for all.”
Photo: POC Sports |
Photo: Anton Enerlöv |
The Vitrea goggles feature a quick-change lens system that can be operated while wearing gloves and while the goggles are still on your face, allowing you to explore the mountains with the best possible vision in all conditions.
Ideal for skiing and ski-mountaineering, the oversize goggle frame extends down over the cheeks for extra coverage and protection. Combined with a shallow-angle toric lens featuring Clarity™ by POC lens technology, the goggles ensure your all-round vision is always at its sharpest, particularly in your lower periphery.

Founded in 2005 in Sweden, POC’s safety mission focused initially on ski racing. It’s a focus that remains, and its experience shines through with its line of ski helmets. But performance need not be one dimensional, which is aptly illustrated in the new Speedy Dolcezza junior race collection.
For younger skiers looking for a different type of inspiration the new winter 24 collection will also include helmets, goggles and apparel designs to offer the very best performance wrapped up in the energy and delight of ski racing.
The limited-edition ‘Speedy Dolcezza’ collection is made up of the Skull Dura jr, Artic SL slalom helmet, a Fovea Mid Race goggle as well and a ‘tropical race’ FIS-approved GS speed suit resplendent with pineapple art. The tried and tested products in the collection offer the very highest levels of performance and protection and now provide junior ski racers with an enjoyable opportunity to challenge the conventional view of racing.
Photo: Maja Johansson | Photo: Maja Johansson |
Many existing products in the collection will feature seasonal colours updates. Inspired by POC’s objective to develop ranges that introduce new colours but allow for products to be easily paired across seasons and years.
Selentine Off White, Halite Yellow and Turmaline Navy sit alongside a range of existing colours to create a range of goggles, bags, apparel and helmets that will stimulate and inspire skiers and snowboarders.
As an Olympic mogul skier, and one of the best freeride skiers in the world, Hedvig Wessel inspires many with her technical abilities and natural approach to skiing. It’s a dedication and focus that is often balanced in life through her love of painting, one of which led to the design inspiration for her latest signature series which takes inspiration from her personal experience one of Norway’s legendary peaks, Store Skagastølstind.
All the designs, which come directly from paintings created after her adventure, feature on a new Nexal and Obex BC Mips which are used by Hedwig for backcountry adventures. The Obex BC Mips features integrated technology including Mips®, Recco® and an NFC Medical ID provided by twICEme®. The Nexal goggle features a large Clarity™ cylindrical lens and Zygomatic Bone Covers underneath the frame increase protection in a fall or from wind chill.

Based on the foundations laid in over a decade long partnership, POC are releasing a new Jeremy Jones and Protect Our Winters (POW) Fornix to continue the support for positive action for environmental change.
Introducing the Jeremy Jones and Protect Our Winters collection, Adam Pfeiffer, Snow helmets product manager at POC, said, ”The effects of climate change is unquestionable. This year has shown that clearly and the urgency to act is more important than ever, which is why we must continue to work together, to be a force for change. This is what POW is focused on doing and why all our contributions to its work are so important.”
The new JJ/POW Fornix will join earlier collections with 10% of all proceeds going directly to POW to support their work and continue building awareness and climate advocacy.

A core element in safety is protecting as much of the body without impacting a user’s flexibility and comfort. The brand-new Oseus VPD shorts are the epitome of this approach and feature flexible thigh, hip and tailbone protection.
Created using a blend of wool and polyester, the materials used in the shorts perfectly balance warmth and thermal regulation with performance properties. Further, the shorts are certified to EN1621-1, Level 1 standards, and thanks to the use of VPD will mold to each user with their body heat ensuring a flexible and highly individual fit. During a fall the VPD hardens directly on impact to protect those critical areas and can be used repeatedly.

Ahead of the new World Cup season, POC and Marco Odermatt are proud to introduce a new limited-edition signature series goggle, which has been designed exclusively by Marco and POC, and which will be used by Marco in the upcoming season.
POC has been working closely with Marco for many years, and last year announced a new four-year partnership alongside his first signature series goggle. The new design has been developed by POC and Marco exclusively for the Zonula goggle, which is Marco’s chosen race goggle thanks to its incredible performance and field of vision.
Photo: Erich Spiess / Red Bull Content Pool | Photo: POC Sports |
Marco is known to have started skiing at a very early age and was inspired by many of ski racing’s greats. And it’s that inspiration that has also laid the foundation for an extension to the Marco Odermatt series, with a helmet, goggle and neck warmer designed to protect, inspire and be used specifically by junior ski racers.
The collection is comprised of a ‘Skull Dura Jr Marco Odermatt Edition’, a ‘Fovea Mid Race Marco Odermatt Edition’ and a ‘Neck warmer Marco Odermatt Edition’.
Introducing the Junior series, Marco Odermatt said : “It’s easy to spot the lion on the helmet, which has been a big inspiration to me since I was a small kid on the slopes. With POC we worked on a design centered around the lion, which to me is the symbol of power and agility. Being able to inspire and motivate younger skiers is incredibly humbling and takes me back to my early racing years trying to emulate the greats. That was a positive motivation to me, and I hope this design will inspire younger racers to follow their passion in much the same way.”
Magnus Gustavsson, Hard Goods Director at POC, added : “Marco’s results speak for themselves and his approach to skiing is one we respect greatly, especially how he includes and inspires younger racers. We are thrilled with the new editions and look forward to seeing them on the slopes.”
Photo: Alfred Jürgen Westermeyer / Red Bull Content Pool |
When Marco was a young, up and coming ski racer, he was inspired and motivated by his idols and often wanted to have the same equipment they used. With his new junior collection, he wanted to share that same feeling with young skiers that are inspired by him, all centered around the lion, which is a motivation and inspiration to him.

The limited-edition helmet is the same as used by many of the EF Education-EasyPost’s riders, which has protected, performed, and inspired in equal measure, and will be available immediately in selected online and retail stores, as well as on POCsports.com.
Introducing the limited-edition helmet, Lina Elfstrand, Chief Marketing Officer at POC said: “Cycling has some of the most dedicated fans around. Watch any race and you will see roadsides littered with fans in awe of the proximity to and exploits of their heroes. Dressed in pink, encouraging and motivating riders through thick and thin, rain or shine, EF Education-EasyPost fans are easy to spot. We wanted to celebrate and support them by creating the helmet they have long asked us for, so they can support and emulate their idols out on the road.

The limited-edition helmet is the exact same version of the Ventral Air Mips which is available to EF Education-EasyPost riders. Developed with a focus on extreme levels of ventilation, very low weight and high levels of protection, the Ventral Air Mips has been proven at the very highest levels of WorldTour racing. The helmet’s availability will coincide with the world’s biggest cycling event, the Tour de France.
Jonathan Vaughters, EF Education-EasyPost, added: “Success in professional racing is built on performance and our helmets combine the best in weight, ventilation and safety. And the success of professional teams is ultimately down to the fans that support and inspire us. POC helmets are unique and have the ability to maximize the team and rider’s potential, and we are overjoyed that all our fans will now be able to be head to toe in pink and benefit from the same products our riders do.”
Pink is known as the color of EF Education-EasyPost, of that there is no question, and the 2023 design presents the classic pink alongside different shades that are nods to the past, present and future of the team. And of course, the fan favorite argyle.

Stronger and even lighter than the 23g of its namesake, the Elicit, the limited edition Elicit Ti has been created using an innovative recovery process which allows unused Titanium from the manufacturing of surgical tools to be salvaged and reconditioned to create the Elicit Ti.
Developed for the highest levels of performance using the highest quality material, they highlight that performance and sustainable thinking can go hand in hand.
Tilda Håll, Product Manager, Eyewear, POC, said: “We approached the development of the Elicit Ti with a basic principle at its core; that sustainable materials and performance can, and should, be able to live side by side. If we challenge conventional thinking and methods, there is no need to compromise performance or sustainability or a reason to choose one over another. Instead, it should be able to co-exist and become the norm. And we are proud that with the Elict Ti we have shown just that.”
At 22g the Elicit Ti will take over the mantle as POC’s lightest-ever sunglasses and will be used by the EF Education-EasyPost team at the Giro d’Italia.
Andreas Klier, Sports and Technical Director, EF Education-EasyPost, said: “Many of our riders have been using the Elicit glasses for some time as their weight and performance are exceptional. To take all that performance and add to it the fundamental dimension of sustainable thinking is striking, and it illustrates why we value working so closely with POC.”
The Elicit Ti feature a unique titanium truss design along the temples allowing the perfect balance of rigidity and weight. Created with recovered medical-grade titanium, the one-piece design creates a unique product with optimal stiffness, comfort and balance.
The Elicit Ti offer incredible protection and coverage, all of which have been subjected to rigorous testing, particularly with EF’s professional riders. Featuring specially designed lens snap hinges, lens changing is effortless and quick, allowing riders to change lenses in seconds. The frameless design also creates a unique sensation of openness while providing all the benefits of enhanced coverage.
Commenting on the eyewear, Stefan De Bod, EF Education-EasyPost rider, said: “The Elicit Tis are special because they are so unbelievably light. The lightness means I hardly notice them and they have such crisp vision thanks to the Clarity lenses. Knowing that POC has used recovered materials to develop these glasses makes me appreciate them that much more.”
To illustrate the lightweight approach, when paired with POC’s lightest helmet, the Ventral Lite, the combined weight would be a mere 200g (approx. for both). Naturally, that is a significant performance gain for those focused on weight and performance.

As part of POC’s Aero initiative, the Procen is POC’s latest product focused on aerodynamics and the specific needs of performance cyclists. Developed cooperatively with EF PRO CYCLING teams, the Procen optimizes aerodynamics and cooling to enhance speed, protection and performance.
The Procen will debut with EF Education-TIBCO-SVB on May 1st during the team time trial at La Vuelta Femenina. It will be used for the first time by the EF Education-EasyPost riders at the Giro d’Italia.

Photo: POC Sports | Photo: Dan King |
Magnus Gustavsson, Director of hard goods, POC, said: “We already knew that with the Tempor and Cerebel we have some of the fastest time-trial helmets in cycling. With the team, we brought our combined experience together and dug into our wealth of CFD data and evidence to analyze the precise needs of performance and elite cyclists, especially how to manage heat. Our objective with the Procen was to maintain the speed and aerodynamic advantage of the Tempor and Cerebel and add a layer of performance through enhanced heat management, allowing riders to be optimized aerodynamically, use their speed for cooling, and be able to hold peak efforts for longer.”
The Procen has been designed to drain the high-pressure zone at the front of the helmet, which leads to stagnant air and additional air resistance riders need to push through, and instead guides it through the helmet. In addition, by creating the Venturi effect inside the helmet, as used in POC’s Ventral helmet, the airflow creates superior ventilation and cooling, which enhances the overall performance of the helmet and rider.
Photo: Jojo Harper |
Rachel Hedderman, General Manager of EF Education-TIBCO-SVB, said: “Success in professional racing is built on performance, and we came to POC with some ideas and areas of focus for us in the future, notably how to manage even more heat and how to maximize the team’s and rider’s potential. The Procen is another example where POC can initiate a new way of thinking, creating products with incredible quality and relevance. I know our riders are excited to use it to its full potential.”
The Procen has been developed with the same meticulous Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) testing and analysis that has gone into making POC’s established Tempor and Cerebel time-trial helmets, both of which were used to provide the comparative analysis and benchmark for the Procen. To gain even more insight into each rider and their specific time trial position, EF Pro Cycling’s performance teams 3D body scanned numerous riders to create an additional CFD database to fine-tune the rider position and Procen.
Snapshot of Procen CFD testing – CFD is not a static process, it is dynamic and in constant motion, thus the image serves for illustration purposes only. |

Andreas Klier, Sports and Technical Director, EF Education-EasyPost, said: “We’ve been partners with POC since the 2014 season, and their innovation and support of the team have been critical in many of our achievements. Together we wanted to take another leap forward as we know optimized aerodynamics and cooling will improve performance for every rider, regardless of what kind of time trial rider they are. And with the Procen, POC has created a real ‘Goldilocks’ time-trial helmet that will benefit the vast majority of our riders.”
A precise shape manages residual air travelling over and around the helmet, particularly the trailing edge, which is optimized to reduce turbulence and meet the air flowing through the helmet. This maintains linear airflow off the helmet and rider, improving the rider’s overall aerodynamic performance.
In addition to the ventilation and aerodynamic performance, the Procen also utilizes a new and innovative 2-position lens system which allows a rider always have crisp vision and overcome any lens fogging on the start ramp. The Clarity lens can sit around 10mm from the helmet to ensure air can move naturally before being pressed into place before the time starts. Thanks to an innovative temple design, the visor lens is fully detachable and will also break away from the helmet in a crash.
The importance of clear vision when riding time trials is fundamental to safety, especially to see and react to the course with sufficient time. Likewise, comfort and fit play an essential role in maintaining focus. Procen’s whole-head adjustment system makes it easy for every rider to find a secure fit, ensuring optimum protection.
Magnus Gustavsson, POC added: “Our Aero initiative is driven by science, our innovations and our open-minded Swedish attitude, to optimize a rider's safety and performance. The Procen is the latest result of our approach; an incredibly high-performance helmet with a supreme cooling effect over the whole head, perfect for intense time-trials, especially in the heat or long sustained efforts.”

The new collection features a host of versatile pieces designed to perform under a range of extreme conditions, with sustainability playing a central role in the development process. Further, the new collection introduces more Women specific styles and brings a new Youth range specifically designed for younger riders.
Monica Lindstrom, Apparel Director at POC, said, "We are constantly seeking to deliver on our mission and improve on what we have done before and constantly questioning conventional thinking. This is clear in our new collection, especially with our aero initiative and the return of our performance-optimized collection Raceday. It is at the extremes when things show their true colors, in protection and performance, and we are proud to have developed styles and materials for all riders to meet those challenges."
The new collection complements existing road, gravel and mountain bike styles with various seasonal colors tuned to their environment.
The collection highlights include the following.
The new Raceday collection leads out the road apparel collection. Aero optimized and part of POC’s Aero initiative, the Raceday collection features a new jersey, bib shorts, gloves and shoe covers, all designed to enhance a riders aerodynamic efficiency. Coming in Women’s and Men’s versions, the bib shorts and jersey feature innovative materials designed to improve compression and disrupt airflow allowing a rider to slip through the air efficiently.
The key benefit of the Raceday jersey is the inner structure which creates micro-channels between the jersey and the skin for improved airflow, enhancing cooling and breathability. The Bib shorts feature a woven fabric with exceptional stretch and compression, giving the shorts a ribbed, pinstripe appearance. In addition, the Women’s Bib features a brand-new chamois pad designed specifically for female riders and the pioneering reverse suspender system.
Aero is a primary focus this season, as is POC’s continued ambition to encourage and support female cyclists with more styles and options. This season includes the W’s Essential Road Jersey Print – which features straight lines, minimal seams and longer arms combined to create a jersey that optimizes functionality and performance. Cut with more refined lines and a lower collar; the jersey maintains a cleaner, sharper finish. It can be paired with the new W's Essential Layer Vest, a lightweight, close-fitting base layer for every rider who will benefit from flatlock seams, giving greater comfort against the skin.
For those venturing out in the rain or cold the new W’s Thermal Splash jacket will let them stay warm without overheating thanks to a windproof, partially insulated jacket with exceptional wicking capabilities and light water protection. In addition, the W’s Thermal Jacket provides comfort thanks to a thicker, insulated material combined with a brushed inner for comfort and warmth in cooler conditions
Supporting the launch of the Omne Ultra there are some specific styles for those adventure or gravel riding, such as the new W’s Ultra Tee, perfect on sunnier days and which combines trusted performance with comfort and a looser fit ideal for relaxed rides and longer adventures. In addition, the new M’s Air Tee is constructed from a very lightweight mesh for ultimate breathability, giving exceptional comfort and fit for those hot days.
Gravel riding and Mountain bike riders have different needs which is where the Hip Pack Hydro 4L gives the freedom to ride without a backpack yet allow you to easily carry all the essentials for a day on the trails or adventures. Featuring compartmentalized storage for tools, a spare tube, some snacks, keys and a card. The hip pack also has a water bladder to ensure a rider can take additional water on a longer ride. Adventurous riders will also be catered for with new Devour Ultra eyewear, tuned for longer days and functionality.
The POC mountain bike collection continues to expand with the W’s Poise Hoodie, ideal for all-day use, whether on the bike or off it, as it perfectly balances comfort and casual style with performance. Constructed from Japanese Delta-Peak™ polyester, the hoodie has a technical feel and a material quality suited to every situation.
It is joined by the W’s Poise Crew Neck, which combines a casual style with absolute function. Constructed using a blend of recycled cotton and polyester, the heavyweight top has a loose fit for use with back and elbow protection.
M's and W’s Essential MTB Lite LS jersey is a Lightweight jersey for mountain bike constructed using recycled materials; the jersey gives comfort, breathability and exceptional freedom of movement.
The Aero-optimized Propel sunglasses were introduced at the start of 2023 at the Tour Down Under. To meet the challenges of shifting weather, a brand-new Photochromic lens has been developed specifically for the Devour and will allow riders to have optimum vision across a broader range of light conditions. The lens features a molecular coating which darkens when exposed to sunlight ensuring you have the best vision all day long, even when conditions change.
A full range of POC performance and lifestyle eyewear will be updated with seasonal colours, including the Devour, Elicit, Crave, Aim, Aspire, Know, Require, Want, Will.
The 2023 seasons will see a new Coron Air, updated with Mips. It’s a helmet that has been designed to deliver performance protection all day long. Developed using POC's Whole Helmet Concept™ to deliver superior levels of comfort, fit and performance, the helmet includes optimized ventilation channels that ensure airflow is maximized at both low and high speeds, making the helmet an ideal choice for DH and enduro riders.
A whole range of helmets are updated with seasonal colours, including the Omne Air, Ventral Air, Ventral, Ventral Tempus and mountain bike specific helmets such as the Otocon, Kortal, Tectal, Axion, Crane and Omne Air Resistance.
The younger generation has even more to choose from with the addition to the Youth collection of the Opsin Youth goggle which has been optimized for younger riders so they can see every detail on the trails ahead, allowing them to ride confidently as they develop their skills riding downhill and enduro.
Youth XC riders also have more options with a new jersey, bib short and socks combination. The Youth XC Jersey adds small details to enhance comfort. Constructed from a lightweight structured mesh in recycled polyester, the jersey is highly ventilated, breathable and dries quickly. Used with the Y's XC Bibshorts, which combine flexibility and freedom of movement with compression and support, younger riders can hone their skills in absolute comfort.
Details and accessories may be small, but they play a big part in a day on a bike. The new collections have been re-energized with seasonal styles, such as the Lure mtb sock long and the Lithe mtb sock mid. Road and Gravel riders will have plenty of choice too, with several new styles expanding the range. The Vivify Sock Long, Flair Sock Mid and Zephyr Merino Sock Mid, all crafted to fit beautifully, will ensure no shortage of content for mid-ride sock discussions.
Gloves are equally essential, and the Savant MTB glove leads the way with material innovation to bring a more refined touch. The Deft and Agile short gloves provide the ideal balance of protection and performance on the road.
Monica Lindstrom, Apparel Director at POC, added, "Presenting a new POC collection is always a pleasure as it culminates many years of material innovation and exploration. Guided by our view that 'If it doesn't exist, then we will make it', we have infused more sustainable thinking and added more female-specific styles to the collections. To us, it's fundamental and will help us meet our longer-term vision of more participation with lower impact."

The Omne Air Resistance is built on the same foundations as the Omne Air but has been specifically designed for a multipurpose use and the POCito Omne Air features all the same technology with highly visible fluorescent colors that attract attention from a distance, so others notice child cyclists earlier. Reflective detailing makes it even easier for the helmet to grab attention.
Another Omne to grab attention is the Omne Eternal, a first of its kind as it can charge itself from any light, indoors and outdoors. The result is when you want to ride, your light is always charged and ready. All powered by clean, endless energy.
Designed with seamless safety all a rider needs to think about is riding. The helmet is designed with sensors to monitor light conditions which will activate automatically when worn. And when you take off the helmet the lights will stop automatically.
The acclaimed Omne helmet is lightweight, safe, well ventilated and comfortable, and the Omne Eternal adds to this with its unique use of Powerfoyle, a light harvesting technology to permanently power its rear light.

As part of its Aero initiative POC is delighted to release Propel, its brand-new cycling eyewear designed to enhance aerodynamics and performance for each rider.
Developed for high-performance racing and to be the most aerodynamic cycling sunglasses POC has ever produced, Propel is lightweight with a large lens and unique field of view. But what stands the Propel apart from the crowd is the aerodynamic advantage.
The result of meticulous computational fluid dynamic testing (CFD), the Propel features a unique lens and temple design to reduce drag and allow airflow to interact with the rider and their body position.
Photo: Jered Gruber & Ashley Gruber | Photo: Aron Brzezinski |
Introducing the Propel, POC’s eyewear manager, Tilda Håll said, “In developing our Aero initiative, we wanted to explore the aerodynamic potential of eyewear. We know the world of performance cycling is about marginal gains, and every watt saved can make a difference. We tested continually with CFD to research and fine-tune our ideas. The results led us to design the eyewear with the rider's body and position in the forefront of our minds. The result is the most aerodynamic eyewear we have ever produced.”
The Propel is explicitly designed to sit closer to the face, with a wrap-around feel and precise side fairings which guide air away from a rider’s ears. This precise management of airflow brings aerodynamic gains as air is guided over the shoulders - instead of allowing a rider's ears to cause turbulence - which creates a smoother airflow and enhances a rider's aerodynamic profile.

Tested in CFD alongside many of POC’s performance sunglasses, the Propel’s continually came out on top, saving watts and with a new design emerging as the most aerodynamic. In addition, the Propel’s feature a unique Clarity lens that wraps further around the head and results in an incredible field of view, enhancing peripheral vision and the ability to see and react to dangers earlier.
Snapshot of Propel CFD testing – CFD is not a static process, it is dynamic and in constant motion, thus the image serves for illustration purposes only. |
The Propel made its professional debut at the Tour Down Under with both EF Education First teams using the new eyewear.
Commenting on the Propel’s, EF Education-TIBCO-SVB General Manager, Rachel Hedderman, said, “Performance is critical when the margins we are playing with are so small. It’s essential that the kit we use can contribute to our success, and it helps motivate us to dig even deeper knowing that everything we use is so technical and highly tuned, designed to support and enhance our effort.”
EF Education – EasyPost CEO, Jonathan Vaughters, added, “There’s a saying in cycling, ‘if it looks fast, it is fast’, and that sums up Propel. We know all the aerodynamic testing that went into creating it, but equally important is the lens shape and broad field of view, which is incredibly confidence inspiring when you are packed in a tight peloton.”

The result of computational fluid dynamic testing, wind tunnel testing and rider feedback, the Propel sunglasses introduce aerodynamic gains to eyewear. In addition, the sunglasses feature finely tuned, wrap-around Clarity lenses to ensure vision is always at its sharpest.
It is constructed with a bio-grilamid frame, and three nose bridge sizes are included, allowing each user to find a comfortable and secure fit. The temples are fully adjustable in both length and grip for absolute comfort.

POC’s safety mission and its long history in skiing led naturally to the Dimension Avalanche Backpack, especially as airbag systems are well known to offer the greatest chance of avoiding burial in an avalanche, and as such the best chance of survival.
To develop an innovative and contemporary backpack with the latest airbag technology, POC teamed up with Swiss specialists in avalanche airbag systems, Alpride SA. The Dimension Avalanche Backpack incorporates the brand new, fully electronic Alpride E2 system with supercapacitor technology and results in an airbag system that is lighter, has more volume and deploys faster than the E1 generation.
Henrik Björkman, Senior Product Designer for packs, POC said: “A few years ago we could only dream of where the new generation of fan systems are today. We have been eager to develop a backpack like this, and with Alpride’s innovative technology we are incredibly proud of the result and potential for enhanced protection. It is a backpack that integrates material craftsmanship with the speed and reliability of the Alpride system, is lightweight and not subject to any restrictions for flying, transport, shipment or storage.”
On the face of it the backpack may have a classical design. Look closer and the incredibly meticulous and advanced construction shines through, it could be with 133 pattern pieces, the 66 webbings or the 53 trims, but all are designed in a way to deliver an advanced yet easy-to-use backpack with zero compromises. The technology, construction, usability, carrying comfort, visibility, material choice and clear aesthetics serve to underscore a core development idea; that the backpack must be intuitive to use, especially under extreme conditions and in emergency situations.
Integrated technology also creates a smart safety approach. The embedded RECCO® reflector, which makes a user searchable to rescue teams, and a medical ID NFC chip from twICEme, which stores vital first aid data for first responders to use, especially in the ‘golden hour’ after an accident, are of particular importance – and both function without batteries or an internet connection.
The carrying system incorporates a reinforced back panel and adjustable weight-distribution straps guarantee an immediate, safe and comfortable position on the back. The resulting body hugging effect guarantees wobble-free powder descents, while the clever compartmentalization of the pack makes intuitive use natural. The color coded straps indicate how to correctly attach skis or snowboard to the backpack.
POC Freeride athlete Craig Murray: “The backpack is great. I have been using it a lot and it’s really practical and confidence inspiring. It’s size is ideal to fit my day backcountry kit such as skins, water bottle, food, puffer jacket, first aid kit, crampons, saw, shovel, beacon and probe. But it’s not too large to compromise the feeling when skiing. The internal pockets are well thought out and the main Dimension material, quality hems and double stitching are great for the durability and integrity of the pack. Plus, the helmet carry system and central zip simplifies a lot of carrying questions.”
The fluorescent orange color ensures perfect visibility even during the worst white-out and the choice of material guarantees lasting durability and absolute reliability when its needed most. Rarely used in the construction of backpacks, the Dimension Avalanche Backpack uses an extremely high-quality material, Dimension Polyant, which was originally developed for the extremes of sailing.
The fabric is a polyester laminate construction, consisting of four fabrics bonded together which guarantees durability, complete waterproofness, longevity, abrasion and tear resistance. In addition, the face fabric is made of 100% recycled polyester and DWR treated so that the outer fabric does not get wet.
Johan Weman, Technology Exploration Director, POC, added – “Research shows that the best chance to avoid burial in an avalanche is with an avalanche airbag and they are an essential safety item for those venturing into avalanche prone terrain. But certain drawbacks, such as weight or practicality when flying have held some skiers and snowboarders back from adopting the technology. We developed the Dimension Avalanche Backpack to address these issues, to develop a convenient, practical, hassle free system that works exactly when you need it so there would be no need to compromise or choose.”

The Alpride E2 Electronic Airbag System
The new "Alpride E2 Supercapacitor System", stores the energy released when the airbag is deployed. When the supercapacitor system is triggered, it drives a fan to inflate the airbag. Storage and release of energy happens based on an electromechanical process rather than a chemical reaction as occurs in rechargeable batteries.
As a result, the supercapacitor's performance remains extremely reliable even in very cold temperatures. The new "E2 release unit" is 40% smaller and 25% lighter (140 g) than the existing Alpride E1 system, relative to the 162-liter airbag. Like its predecessor E1, the E2 is also TSA-approved and therefore approved for all airlines.
The new E2 features an LCD display to check Super Capacitors charging level and the AA battery status. A new knob allows for external deflation and an automatic pressure relief valve reliefs airbag pressure three minutes after inflation.

]]>POC’s new winter season collection is led out by the striking and unique Levator Mips, a brand-new visor helmet that introduces an alternative perspective to optics and helmet technology.
The new winter season collection brings a number of innovative products to the slopes for the first time, including the Nexal, a brand-new goggle that features a cylindrical lens and unique frame design, new body protection, photochromic lenses and environmentally conscious updates.
On top of a wealth of novelties are a host of new updates, such as the addition of Mips to POC’s award-winning race helmets, which complement new season colours and styles.
Commenting on the Levator Mips, Chief Product Officer Oscar Huss said – “Developing the Levator Mips required a different approach and concept as there were visor helmets in the market, and we could see the many positives and negatives. But we wanted to approach the Levator Mips our way, taking some of the insights available, yet applying a completely blank sheet to our thinking, where we could introduce our innovations and approaches. The Levator Mips emerged naturally from our development process and we are incredibly proud of the result. It is an extremely advanced helmet, in particular due its unique lens and housing technology, and it will provide skiers and snowboarders with a new view of what is possible.”
The standout and striking feature of the Levator Mips is its interchangeable Clarity lens. A bespoke lens, unique to POC, developed together with optical specialists Carl Zeiss specifically for the Levator Mips. The lens, together with a raised EVA panel around the side of the helmet, provides enhanced protection and creates the familiar silhouette of a goggle, yet is anything but standard. A soft EVA zone at the rear of the helmet offers enhanced protection whilst adding comfort and functionality. Inside the helmet, Alcantara padding delivers a heightened comfort and sensory experience, whilst the fully adjustable ventilation allows for personalized cooling, whatever the weather. Additional details include Mips Evolve, a RECCO® Reflector, an EPP, EPS and EVA liner, ABS shell, a precision 360° Fit System, and a Fidlock buckle, as well as two-step detachable ear pads.
The Nexal
The Levator Mips establishes POC’s take on what is possible with Visor helmets, and another highlight for the new season is the Nexal. At first glance, it will look like the perfect addition to POC’s advanced goggle family. Look even closer, and you will find a brand-new cylindrical lens featuring POC Clarity lens technology and a host of unique details. Most notable is the new outrigger design inspired by POC’s award-winning Zonula goggle to create a precise fit and provide a user with a wider field of view. Further, the frame features unique Zygomatic bone covers that offer the user more comfort and protection. Coming in Comp versions, which feature competition-specific lenses, the Nexal also features adjustable ventilation, allowing greater airflow management at high and low speeds. Naturally, the lens is also easily replaced, allowing users to change lenses hassle-free and get the best vision, whatever the weather.
Founded in 2005 in Sweden, POC’s safety mission focused initially on ski racing. It’s a focus that remains, and its experience shines through with its freshly updated line of ski race helmets. The most notable evolution is integrating Mips in most of POC’s competition-specific models.
The race-tested Skull family, including the Skull Dura Comp Mips and Skull Dura X Mips, now feature a Mips Integra rotational impact safety system. The new system is seamlessly integrated and forms a crucial component of POC’s ‘Whole Helmet Concept™’ for helmet development. Each part is designed to work together to improve the whole helmet. The FIS-approved helmets now feature such innovations as the ‘Race lock’, deflector panels, pull-release ear pads and continue to sit at the vanguard of innovative race protection.
The Artic SL Mips, another helmet updated with Mips, also exemplifies some of the new seasonal colours with a race-influenced gradient from Fluorescent Pink to Aventurine Yellow.
It is a colourway that will be seen across the whole ski collection, especially with the new FIS-approved junior ski race suits. These suits also feature highly durable fabrics and integrated foam padding on the arms, hips and legs, enhancing comfort under hard shell protectors.
The updated Loft Parka in a new Aventurine yellow will catch the eye on the slopes this winter, but what is even more remarkable about the updated award-winning Loft Parka is its improved sustainability. Designed as much for skiing as days off the mountain, the updated Loft Parka features a new 100% pre-consumer recycled taffeta lining. Further, the T Core Fill loose fibre insulation, which supplies copious amounts of warmth and comfort, comes from 100% post-consumer recycled material. The jacket maintains its protection with a 10.000 mm water column, fluorocarbon-free DWR, and a waterproof zip. The Loft Parka is joined this season by the distinct and highly versatile Coalesce jacket, which also includes a recycled liner and post-consumer recycled T Core Fill insulation.
For those long days on the mountain, or days where the weather is in constant flux, having the ability to ensure optimum vision across a broader range of light conditions is critical. Consequently, POC has developed the new Fovea Clarity and Fovea Mid Clarity Photochromic lenses, giving a user the ability to focus on what’s ahead of them, safe in the knowledge that their vision will tune to the conditions.
Commenting on the new photochromic lenses, POC product manager Sofie Berglund, added - “We wanted to enhance a user’s visual sensation, experience and ability to react to danger without ever feeling the need to change lenses, but still seeing in a natural and perfectly balanced way.”
A Photochromic lens is clear indoors and darkens automatically when exposed to sunlight. It’s an experience delivered thanks to molecules coated on the lens surface activated by the sun’s ultraviolet radiation, causing the lens to darken to suit various riding conditions. The new photochromic lenses will have a VLT (Visible Light Transmission) between 55-13% and cover Categories 1-3 (which cover the range of cloudy to sunny conditions).
Other seasonal highlights
Additional highlights for this season include a range of new junior and adult styles, a new race backpack to complement the bags collection, and Midsize and POCito eyewear for children or adults seeking slightly smaller frames.
Commenting on the whole new collection, POC’s Chief Product Officer, Oscar Huss said – “We wanted to keep innovating and focusing on the needs of our communities. The quality of the winter collection, featuring brand new designs, updates and even more sustainable thinking, is a true testament to the drive of our product development teams. I hope it will inspire all winter sports enthusiasts.”

As an Olympic mogul skier, and one of the best freeride skiers in the world, Hedvig Wessel inspires many with her technical abilities and natural approach to skiing. It’s a dedication and focus that is often balanced in life through her love of painting, one of which led to the design inspiration for her signature series.
Introducing the collection, Hedvig Wessel, said – “Norway's national mountain, Stetind, symbolizes life in such a beautiful way and the design represents what I feel when I see Stetind. Its perfection, its beauty and its extreme difficulty. When I started working on my signature collection, I wanted to add another dimension to how I experienced it and challenged myself to climb and ski Stetind. It is well known for being extremely demanding and the design also communicates that with hard work and calculated decisions everything is possible.”
Photo: Oscar Barkenbom |
The Hedvig Wessel edition is made up of the Obex BC Mips helmet and the Orb goggle, both used by Hedvig in and out of competition.
The Obex BC Mips is adorned with golden details to represent the contour lines on a map, showing Stetind’s unique typography. The blues used on the Orb goggle convey the hues of the evening skies over the Lyngen Alps in northern Norway, an area Hedvig loves to ski. The collection also features a smiley which Hedvig marks on all her skis as a reminder that above all else it’s important to enjoy what you are skiing.
Commenting on the collection, Sofie Berglund, Product Manager Eyewear and Goggles, POC added - “Being able to work with such a talented skier and artist is a rare opportunity. POC and Team AMANI are proud to release a limited-edition collection of helmets and eyewear. Designed in conjunction with the Team AMANI riders it’s a collection which will go towards supporting increased access to cycling and racing in East Africa and on the international stage.
Photo: Saltlake Lian | Photo: Finley Newmark |
The entire AMANI team and partners are still coming to terms with the recent tragic loss of team captain, Sule Kangangi, but have decided to continue with the release as the collection represents ongoing inspiration to those wishing to support the project. The release is also in respect to Sule, who was an instrumental part of the design process and who was excited to share it with the world.
Photo: Finley Newmark | Photo: Finley Newmark |
"Our AMANI team helmets and eyewear are very special and represent much more than performance or protection. Along with the team, Sule was at the heart of the design which was created to give the team a consistency and still offer each rider a uniqueness and ability to fly their national flag. We have been racing in them for some time and take great pride in what they stand for. And now, on top of that, they are a connection to Sule that we want to share with everyone as we know he would be overjoyed seeing our team supported and our helmets and eyewear ridden all around the globe.”
Photo: Finley Newmark | Photo: Finley Newmark |
“We are incredibly proud to support Team AMANI. They epitomize a spirit and approach to cycling that we should all embrace. We know that not all kilometers are equal, but opportunity should be, and we can all play a part in trying to level the playing field. The recent tragic events have knocked us all backwards, and it is incredibly hard for everyone involved, but Sule would tell us that our work breaking down the barriers, supporting the team and raising awareness for the project is only just beginning and we should not stop. And we won’t”
Photo: Finley Newmark |
The collection of helmets and eyewear have been designed with the Team AMANI riders and has already been raced in the various events this season, such as the Migration Gravel Race. The helmets come in a variety colors and will be delivered with decals of the flags of Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda, which are the home countries for the AMANI team riders.
Sitting down together POC and Team AMANI considered a single color for the team, but quickly realized that a single color would not convey the uniqueness, character and passion of the riders and the team. So, in the end the decision was left to the riders to choose their preferred color, and which could then be personalized further with their national flag. The team logos and orange tie the helmets together as Team AMANI, but each helmet is designed to convey the individual perspective of each rider.
It was a team driven decision that also inspired the choice of colors and designs for the Aspire Clarity eyewear, as each rider chose their own colors and what worked best for them. The end result is a collection created with the riders that has a consistency and diversity that perfectly sums up Team AMANI.
The collection is made up of Ventral Air helmets and Aspire eyewear and will be available exclusively online at POCsports.com from Thursday 15th September. All proceeds from the limited-edition collection will go towards the continued support of the AMANI project and team, to support East African riders and give them the opportunities to race and show the world their talent on a level playing field.

After conducting a pre-study, the conclusion from the Autoliv research team is that a cycle helmet with an integrated airbag can significantly improve protection and reduce the consequences of impacts to cyclists. The combination of both absorbing technologies enables a reduction of the peak linear head acceleration and significantly reduced head injury risk in impact tests. The pre-study also showed that the protection improvements could be reached without critically compromising the design, weight, or comfort of a helmet designed with integrated airbag technology.
“Autoliv is committed to the vision of Saving More Lives and to providing world class life-saving solutions for mobility and society. The safety of vulnerable road users, such as bicyclists and e-bike riders, is high on our agenda. Therefore, it was natural to collaborate on this initiative with POC, a leader in bicyclist safety, to explore how to improve helmet protection in current standard testing and more challenging scenarios, such as higher impact speeds.” says Dr. Cecilia Sunnevång, Vice President Research, Autoliv.
The pre-study showed that the addition of airbag technology on top of the helmet can significantly contribute to enhanced safety performance, especially in linear impacts. It is estimated that the risk for a cyclist to sustain moderate (e.g. mild concussion) to fatal head injuries is reduced from 80% to 30% in a 20 km/h (12 mph) impact.
“Our safety mission drives everything we do, and we always challenge conventional thinking in order to improve protection. Helmets are tested and certified in a laboratory setting and can never fully address all the real-world variables of bike crashes. Together with Autoliv, who are world-renowned and have some of the most advanced testing and research facilities in the field, we have embarked on a development journey with airbag technology, asking ourselves what could be done to excel in current test scenarios and push the envelope towards even more shock absorbing capacity” says Oscar Huss, Chief Product Officer, POC.
Boosted by the increased environmental consciousness and the emergence of e-bike commuting, the number of bicycle riders worldwide is increasing rapidly. This growth needs to be supported by an improved helmet protection, especially at higher speeds enabled by e-biking. During the pre-study, Autoliv and POC developed the initial concepts by advanced simulation tools and conducted correlated physical crash tests. The successful outcome of the pre-study will now lead to further testing and refinement with the objective of developing the concept further and potentially bringing a product to the market.
Autoliv has formed Mobility Safety Solutions (MSS) to extend its business into new market areas beyond light vehicles and occupant safety. By combining our core competence and industry experience, MSS develops and manufactures mobility safety solutions such as pedestrian protection, battery cut-off switches, connected safety services, and safety solutions for riders of powered two-wheelers.

POC’s Whole helmet concept™
Advances in science and research consistently reveal the brain’s awe-inspiring complexity and role in shaping who we are. It is central to our wellbeing, it makes us unique, it drives us, but it is also delicate, fragile and needs protecting. It hurts when you break a bone, but in most cases it will heal.
Damage the brain and the outcome is altogether less certain. That is why we created our unique whole helmet concept™ to development and testing, where each feature, component, shape and material is designed specifically to work together.
The Myelin is POC’s first helmet which has been constructed with 50% recycled material and where each component has been designed for recycling at the end of its life. At first glance it may look like a regular cycling helmet, but behind the Myelin’s clean look hides a host of advanced technical and design details, such as the innovative use of a fabric weave shell, no use of adhesives and a design for deconstruction, which allows the helmet to be separated into individual pieces at the end of its life.
The Myelin is a helmet designed for all cyclists, especially with everyday use and commuting in mind. The ability to simply deconstruct the helmet is achieved thanks to an innovative design and construction.
Half of the materials used in the Myelin are recycled, and are secured together with strategically placed fastenersadhesives and laminated materials. This allows for the separation of individual pieces of material at the end of the helmet’s life. Once these fasteners are cut the helmet deconstructs into its constituent parts. Importantly it has been designed for deconstruction by anyone, simply, with the use of tools available in most homes.
A perfect illustration of the novel approach to allow the pieces to be separated individually is the new fit system, which is inspired by the snap fit systems seen in baseball caps. It allows riders to fine-tune the helmet fit very simply and as often as needed. In addition, the straps are made in a single piece that crosses the entire helmet to keep everything secure, instead of using anchors immoulded in the EPS.
The Myelin is a big idea; it is also a wonderful illustration of POC’s ‘Whole Helmet Concept™’ where each component and part of the helmet has been designed in a way to enhance the whole. In Myelin’s case the idea is to use our planet’s resources respectfully, to take inspiration from a circular economy approach and to lead from the front with new ideas and innovations.
The Myelin is an important step forward, but there is a lot to continue to do and POC’s ambition is to transfer as much of its research and testing in sustainable-resource use into more products over time. The principle is to have the highest level of safety and protection whilst looking to minimize as much of the negative impact as possible.
In developing the Myelin, POC has presented a view of what is possible. Creating products that can be designed with resource efficiency and durability in mind, inspiring all to see the potential ahead.

The helmet can be easily separated into its constituent parts for recycling at end of life.
A lightweight EPS liner gives optimized protection.
An outer shell in recycled fabric enables a laminate-free construction.
Developed with as few different materials and pieces as possible, the helmet’s materials and unique design hold each other securely in place.
A simple snap adjuster combines with elastic sections in the straps to provide a secure fit that can be left untouched when putting on or taking off the helmet.
An embossed logo eliminates the need for printed logos or the use of other materials.
A network of holes in the top of the helmet allow heat to escape.

How do I deconstruct the Myelin?
By removing the six caps at the bottom of the helmet, the fasteners are exposed and able to be cut by a pair of scissors and removed. After also cutting the sewn part of the straps, you can now remove the bottom part of the Myelin to separate each component.
Sort shell, straps and pad as textile, the EPS core as styrofoam and the rest of the helmet as plastic, according to the local availability.
What parts of the Myelin is made from recycled materials?
50% by weight of the Myelin is made with recycled materials.
The innovative textile weave shell, the pad and the straps are all made from recycled Polyester and the bottom ring is made from recycled Nylon.
How do you work with a circularity thinking/approach with this helmet?
Where possible we try to use recycled material in a products production. We are mindful of what resources are needed to fill the desired function of the helmet, minimizing both the material use and the number of different materials used, removing i.e. tapes, metal pins and printed logos. To enable for the individual materials to be separated at the end of life, The Myelin is designed to be deconstructed, avoiding glues and inmoulds and, to make it possible to deconstruct the components by the cyclist before leaving it for waste management.
What if the solution to many of our modern problems lies in an invention that is almost 200 years old? Using the bike for transport, exercise and recreation may not be new but to unlock its true potential and support everyday riders there’s a need for modern, versatile protection and apparel. Products designed to be at their best in all the extremes.
This is the core of POC's new collection for city and urban cyclists. Designed for those who want uncompromising protection and material innovation as they ride through the storms, the seasons, or on any path they choose to follow.
Commenting on the new city and commuter collection, Ingema Vik, Design Director, Apparel, POC, said,
"We wanted to enhance and encourage urban cyclists with a collection that would provide year-round versatility by embracing all the weather extremes. Whether for a daily commute or riding past the city limit in search of adventure, we have optimised the collection to manage the whole range of extreme conditions by merging highly technical fabrics with functionality and design."

POC's new season cycling collections are led out with some eagerly awaited innovations, styles and seasonal colors. The collections will provide mountain bike, gravel and road riders with the ability to extend the season thanks to a host of versatile pieces designed to perform under a whole range of extreme conditions.
The new collections' foundations are strengthened, with sustainability and diversity playing a central role in the design and development process. The new collections will feature even more styles developed with sustainable materials and additional Women's specific styles.
Monica Lindström, Apparel Director at POC, introducing the collections, said, "Several ideas are weaved into our new collections, especially in apparel. Our safety mission is our guiding light, but we have incorporated other principles in the development process to create apparel that will work in every and any condition. It is at the extremes when things show their true colors, in protection and performance, and we are proud to have developed styles and materials to meet those challenges."
The new collection complements existing road, gravel and mountain bike styles with a range of seasonal colors tuned to their environment. Also included are new protection and eyewear styles. The collection highlights include:
The women’s specific Pure VPDs bib shorts - inspired by the award-winning Ultimate VPDs bib short - are designed with a specific reverse suspender, allowing riders to take a nature break without ever needing to take off their jersey. Combined with a four-way stretch fabric, with flatlock seams and the women’s specific Catalyst silicone chamois, the Pure bib shorts are perfect for maximizing days in the saddle.
A new women’s specific jersey, the Ambient, is designed to enhance the seasons by shortening the off-season. Perfect for chillier starts and late finishes, the lightly brushed jersey provides a thermal warmth that supports the ideal ambient temperature. With a soft warp knit, its full-length arms and reflective details are just willing you on to ride more.
Straight lines, minimal seams and longer arms create the Women’s and Men’s Pristine Jersey. It is a jersey that provides a cleaner, sharper finish thanks to a choice to cut the jersey with straighter lines and include a smaller, leaner collar. Constructed from recycled materials, it also features mesh zones in critical areas for enhanced ventilation and airflow.
The Men’s Muse Jersey brings refinement and comfort to every ride with a classic style, longer arms, and subtle detailing. Constructed using a Merino wool and polyester blend, the jersey gives a luxurious feel against the skin. It ensures excellent thermal regulation properties, a jersey you will never want to stop wearing.
Developed to maintain core warmth, the Men’s Kernel layer Vest will keep you warm and comfortable on the longest early season rides. Constructed using a Merino wool blend for optimal thermal regulation and a combination of polyester and elastane, the vest gives the ultimate technical function. Warmth with the ability to wick moisture away from the body to ensure you stay dry and comfortable.
The Men’s Rove Cargo VPDs Bib Shorts are constructed from recycled materials and feature easy-to-access storage pockets on the thighs; the bibs offer comfort, support and functionality. Featuring the new Vital VPDs chamois, the bibs bring the benefits of a longer pad to gravel and adventure riders. They include silicone inserts for enhanced vibration absorption, giving better comfort on longer rides. A breathable mesh torso, fully flatlock seams and entirely seam-free suspenders ensure comfort all day long.
Combining a casual style with absolute function, the Men’s Poise Crew and Tee is a natural choice on or off the bike. Constructed using a blend of recycled cotton and recycled polyester, the heavyweight long-sleeve and t-shirt have a loose, casual style with riding functionality. Cut large enough to wear with body armor, the Poise Crew Neck and Tee also feature a small, secure pocket on the lower left side so a lift card can easily be stored, ideal for riding laps of the bike park.
The perfect balance between performance function and a casual, relaxed style, the Men’s Poise Hoodie is ideal for every day. Constructed from Japanese Delta-Peak™ polyester, the hoodie combines softness with a technical feel and exceptional snag resistance, reducing the chances of the hoodie getting damaged by any trailside obstacles. Ideal for use both on and off the bike, the hoodie has a relaxed fit and can be worn over POC protection.
The Women's Essential Enduro shorts provide an outstanding balance between protection and performance, especially for hotter days. The shorts have been designed to optimize pedal comfort and feature a light nylon stretch material that wicks moisture effectively and dries quickly, making the shorts perfect for hotter days. The Essential Enduro shorts have excellent water repellency, an elastic waist system and a rider-tuned fit for seamless integration with knee pads.
Details and accessories may be small, but they play a big part in a day on a bike. The new collections have been wholly re-energized with new styles, such as the Lure mtb sock long and the Lithe mtb sock mid. Road and Gravel riders will have no shortage of choice either, with several new styles expanding the range. The Vivify Sock Long, Flair Sock Mid and Zephyr Merino Sock Mid, all crafted to fit beautifully, will ensure no shortage of content for mid-ride sock discussions.
Gloves are equally essential, and the new Savant MTB glove leads the way with material innovation to bring a more refined touch. The brand new Deft and Agile short gloves provide the ideal balance of protection and performance on the road.
POC is well known for its helmet range which continues to be at the cutting edge of protection and performance, and it's now an equally central feature of the new apparel collections.
Monica Lindström, Apparel Director at POC, added, "Presenting a new POC collection is always a pleasure. But introducing our new cycling collections is especially inspirational as it is the culmination of many years of material innovation and exploration. Guided by our view that 'If it doesn't exist, then we will make it', we have infused more sustainable thinking and added more female-specific styles to the collections. To us, it's fundamental and will help us meet our longer-term vision of more participation with lower impact."
The new season collection naturally extends beyond apparel, and other highlights include.
Unveiled at the Rouleur Live in November 2021, the Elicit sunglasses have been developed for high performance to be the lightest cycling sunglasses we have ever produced. At just 23g, and with a large Clarity shield lens developed with Carl Zeiss, they defy conventional thinking. They feature a unique truss design for the arms, allowing the perfect balance of rigidity and weight and using bio-based materials.
The frameless design creates a unique sensation of openness whilst still providing all the safety and security needed whilst riding and has specially designed snap hinges that allow lens changing in a matter of seconds. The Elicit come with a spare clear lens, and when paired with our lightest helmet, the Ventral Lite, the combined weight would be a mere 200g (Approx. for both). That is more than a marginal gain for those focused on weight and performance.
The award-winning Column VPD backpack has various carrying capacities to create the perfect storage for a full day on the trail or mountain. Featuring POC's unique VPD protective material, the backpack will mold to the user's body shape with body heat and harden on impact. The result is protection when needed and comfort and feeling that lets you forget it's there.
Constructed with recycled materials, the backpack is lightweight yet robust. With many pockets, the backpack is big enough to carry a hydration system, tools, spare clothing, and a helmet, thanks to a specific removable helmet net. Fit is completely adjustable thanks to six separate adjustment points allowing each rider to configure to taste. The design allows for an open midriff that promotes body movement and flexibility, especially downhill.
The 2-litre Lamina Hip Pack gives the freedom to ride without a backpack yet allows you to easily carry all the essentials for a day on the trails. Featuring compartmentalized storage for tools, a spare tube, some snacks, keys and a card, the hip pack keeps everything secure and lets you enjoy the freedom of riding without a backpack. A separate pocket with a waterproof zip keeps even larger smartphones safe and protected, without the risk of them getting scratched by tools or keys. An internal compression strap and a key hook combine with individual tool sleeves so everything necessary for a ride can easily and securely be stored, staying firmly in place so you can ride without distraction.
The Oseus VPD Jacket and Tee are ideal for downhill and bike park riders, giving the highest level of upper body protection. Combining complete chest protection with a backplate, shoulder padding and elbow protectors, the Jacket and Tee provides a feeling of security yet retains a good level of flexibility and freedom of movement. Constructed from a soft, flexible fabric, the Jacket and Tee can be worn next to the skin for absolute protection and comfort. And thanks to the zip placement on the chest, there's no break in protection across the chest.
A significant update for many of POC's collection of road, gravel and mountain bike helmets is the inclusion and update with Mips. Updates are presented in the Omne Air Mips, Ventral Air Mips, Ventral Mips, Ventral Tempus Mips, Octal X Mips and mountain bike specific helmets such as the Tectal Race Mips, Axion Race Mips and the Coron Air Mips.

POC are proud to release its brand-new and award-winning full-face helmet, the Otocon. Developed for the precise needs of enduro riders, the Otocon brings together new ideas and perspectives, setting a benchmark for what can be integrated and achieved in a full-face helmet. Safety, weight, ventilation, material fusion, fit and adjustment are just some of the defining features of the Otocon.
The Otocon Race Mips and Otocon are brand-new helmets focused on exceptional low weight and high ventilation levels, combined with a host of advanced protection.
Commenting on the Otocon, POC’s Chief Product Officer, Oscar Huss said:
“We have built up a wealth of experience supporting athletes at the very pinnacle of their sports. We wanted to develop the lightest possible full-face helmet that would meet the needs of modern-day Enduro riders, with the very best in performance, protection, ventilation and all-day comfort. The Otocon defies conventional thinking, it will protect you wherever you want to go, and you will forget you’re wearing it.”
The Otocon Race Mips, in particular, is the epitome of POC’s ‘Whole Helmet Concept™’ with a variety of digital integration, such as Recco and an NFC medical ID chip, and the inclusion of Mips Integra. Weighing a mere 750g (size medium), the Otocon Race Mips uses two different liner materials optimized for function and protection in their respective part of the helmet: the upper zone with EPS and the lower zone with EPP.
Ventilation channels inspired by POC’s road helmets allow for unrestricted and maximum airflow. A break-away peak is included to reduce the chance of neck injuries, and a brand-new strap and size adjustment system support a finely tuned fit and retention so riders can ride with or without pads.
An essential feature of the Otocon is the cooling effect enhanced by the interior ventilation channels, which POC’s award-winning road helmets have inspired. The ventilation channels create unrestricted airflow through the helmet, providing cooling airflow at high and low speeds.
All the benefits of exceptional protection come in an incredibly lightweight package. A medium Otocon Race Mips will weigh a mere 750g, making it comfortable and easy to use all day long and amongst the very lightest full-face helmets around. The Otocon, which will have slightly fewer features, will weigh an astounding 680g (size medium), providing even more choice for riders seeking an even lighter helmet.
The Otocon features Mips Integra, a new system first released with POC’s Kortal Race Mips mountain bike helmet in 2021. Developed in partnership with Mips it brings together all the benefits of rotational impact protection in an almost invisible package, the best of all worlds.
A brand-new integrated fit adjustment system, the’ Race Lock’ has been inspired by POC’s World Cup ski racing helmets. The integrated adjuster at the back of the helmet makes it easy to find each rider’s unique 360° fit, enhancing comfort and safety. The unique construction and position of the Race Lock mean that it will never interfere with a rider’s neck and allow for the broader range of movement needed in enduro and gravity riding. It is designed to work perfectly with a goggle strap, allowing total adjustment without any interference.
The Otocon introduces a new strap retention system. Taking years of experience in helmet development, the Otocon features a new anchor system more in tune with trail helmets than conventional full-face helmets. The rider will benefit from a strap retention system that gives an extensive range of adjustments, is more secure and allows the helmet to work with or without cheek pads.
The cheek pads are removable and easy to remove while riding, which will provide even more ventilation when required, such as between enduro race stages. Thanks to the new fit system, the helmet can also be used without pads as the helmet will always be secure.
‘ The helmet that can speak for you when you can’t™’. The twICEme® NFC Medical ID can support user safety and protection by storing a rider’s medical profile and emergency contact details in the helmet, allowing easy access by other riders, medical teams and first responders.
Modern mountain bikes can take you anywhere, and it is liberating, but it places even more importance on being searchable if you get lost involved in an accident. An integrated RECCO® Reflector helps rescue services easily and quickly locate you if something goes wrong.
An innovative approach to the helmet development process has resulted in a helmet that features the strength and durability of an EPP multi-impact chin bar, which also improves durability and an EPS liner in the upper section which creates a lighter helmet and provides for a precise balance.
The transition between EPP and EPS in the helmet is structurally enhanced with an injection-molded cage for extra strength and stability. Aramid bridges are molded to the helmet liner to improve structural stability and penetration protection.
The grill in the chin piece – there to protect the rider from mud and other trail debris – has been designed to be easily removable, even on the go. It can be removed simply with a push. Riders who want even more airflow or who are riding in hot conditions can decide to use the grill or not.
The Otocon features a PC outer shell construction which delivers a wonderful balance of lightweight performance with durability.
Featured on many of POC’s mountain bike helmets is a patented break-away peak that will fly off the helmet in a fall or when striking an object, enhancing neck protection. And which can then be easily re-attached.
The Otocon Race Mips will come with a separate clip-on peak extension which provides even more protection from mud and rain, allowing the rider to see better in bad conditions. It has no moving parts and is designed to snap into place on the top of the peak. A feature inspired directly by the Ibis Enduro racing team riders.
The Otocon will feature many of the same innovations which will come as standard in the Otocon Race Mips, such as the Race Lock, break-away peak, dual-density liner, Recco etc. The Otocon will not feature Mips Integra, twICEme® NFC Medical ID, aramid and the extra bad weather peak.
The Ibis Enduro racing team riders will use the Otocon throughout the EWS season and have been a fundamental part of the development process.
Talking about the Otocon, Robin Wallner, Ibis Enduro racing team manager, said:
“We have a very long history of working together with POC, and their products have protected and helped us perform around the globe over many seasons. Together we have weaved our insights and experiences into the Otocon, and the result, a lightweight helmet with incredible ventilation and a wealth of safety features, is extraordinary. We can’t wait to start racing in it.”

POC’s brand-new cycling sunglasses, Elicit Clarity, have been developed for the very highest levels of performance at the very lowest weight. At a strikingly light 23g, they represent the lightest ever sunglasses that POC has produced and will be unveiled at the Rouleur Live show in London on November the 4th.
The Elicit feature a unique truss design along the temples allowing the perfect balance of rigidity and weight. Created with bio-based materials the design allows the temples to maintain rigidity and stiffness where needed, nearer to the lens, whilst allowing for greater flexibility around the head and ears, providing more comfort and security.
Weight, however, is still only one aspect of the Elicit’s unique approach. They offer incredible levels of protection and coverage, all of which have been subjected to rigorous testing, particularly with professional rider Mitch Docker.
Head of product at POC, Oscar Huss, said “We know that grams matter, so we set ourselves the challenge of creating the lightest performance eyewear we could, balanced with a large modern shield lens for enhanced coverage, visibility and protection. The simplest way to cut weight would have been to make the lens smaller, but this does not match the expectations of modern performance eyewear, especially protection and visibility. For our developers and designers, the Elicit required a lot of unconventional thinking and innovation, and we are incredibly proud of the result.”
Featuring specially designed snap hinges, lens changing is made incredibly easy and quick, allowing riders to change lenses in a matter of seconds. The frameless design also creates a unique sensation of openness whilst still providing all the benefits of enhanced coverage.
The Elicit’s are light, but they have also been designed for durability and use in all conditions. EF Education – NIPPO rider Mitch Docker, has been a key contributor in the development process and has been racing in the new eyewear at the highest level of competition, and in some of the most extreme conditions.
Commenting on the eyewear, EF Education – NIPPO rider, Mitch Docker said, “The Elicit’s are special, and their weight is extraordinary! The lightness means I hardly notice them and they are beautifully balanced. I am a fan of bigger lenses and I have ridden the Elicit’s in almost every weather condition, including my last race, Paris-Roubaix, which was very messy, but they handled it all. I also think they look amazing and it has been fun to work so closely with POC on their development, especially to test them during my ‘Length of Sweden’ ride this summer.”
To give an illustration of the lightweight approach, when paired with POC’s lightest helmet, the Ventral Lite, the combined weight would be a mere 200g (approx. for both). Naturally for those focused on weight and performance that is a significant performance gain.
Spring 2022 and will come in a variety of frame colors (Hydrogen White, Uranium Black, Fluorescent Orange, Actinium Pink, Sapphire Purple and Lemon Calcite) and lenses (Gold, Silver, Define and clear) and will be used by a host of riders, including many from EF education – NIPPO and Drops – Le Col.

The Kortal Race MIPS, is a brand new all-mountain bike helmet packed full of enhanced safety, innovation and technology. It is also the first-ever helmet to feature the recently unveiled MIPS Integra. The Devour takes a new approach to vision and features POC’s Clarity lens technology. Merged with exceptional eye coverage and protection it has been designed for the needs of modern-day bike riders, off and on road.
The Kortal Race MIPS and the Devour Clarity, which have recently been awarded Design and Innovation Awards, are available to buy online and instore from today.
Commenting on the new releases, Oscar Huss, Head of Product, POC, said “Mountain bikes today are more capable than ever, offering everything from XC efficiency going up to DH performance going down. Riders now have a host of new opportunities which we wanted to enhance with a new benchmark in helmet and eyewear protection. With a host of integrated technology, safety solutions and brand new innovations, the Kortal and Devour represent a significant progression in protection and vision. ”
Inspired by the Tectal, which introduced POC’s vision for trail helmets, integrating innovative safety technology into a lightweight and well-ventilated helmet, the Kortal Race MIPS takes POC’s ideas even further. It sets a new benchmark for mountain bike riders at home with the more aggressive and capable all-mountain bikes. The helmet features a brand new design, a patented break away visor system to protect a riders neck, aramid bridges for strength, an NFC Medical ID chip which uses digital technology to allow the helmet to speak for you when you can’t™. A RECCO® Reflector which allows you to be searchable over large areas, particularly in mountainous environments. The Kortal Race MIPS is also the world’s first helmet to use the brand new MIPS Integra system, an almost invisible rotational impact protection system.
To further extend its protection the Kortal Race MIPS is a speed pedelec certified helmet, passing the Dutch NTA8776 standard, which tests helmets at higher impact speeds than standard bicycle use. The helmet peak has several positions to allow for goggle storage underneath while not in use. And naturally is pairs seamlessly with the new Devour Clarity sunglasses and even has a rear ‘eye garage’ for storage. The Kortal, which will feature a reduced list of technology, will also be released alongside the Kortal Race MIPS.
Oscar Huss, Head of Product, POC, continued – “Developing world-leading protection is the very reason POC exists. This, together with our clear mission opens up a whole new world of innovation and opportunity. The Kortal Race MIPS and Devour Clarity have benefited from this approach and feature a host of integrated technology and new ideas that have been recognized with innovation awards. To be acknowledged with these awards is humbling, and it inspires us to keep looking for new solutions and innovations, to always consider the things that have never been done before.”
The Devour sunglasses, developed with exceptional coverage, give a new sense of freedom and flexibility and are as much at home on the road as the trail. The sunglasses feature a fully adjustable nose piece and temples making it easy to find a secure fit for every head shape, and allow the rider to create a more personalized fit. Surface details will be crystal clear thanks to Clarity lens technology which fine-tunes the colour spectrum, and the frame design maximises peripheral vision and allows for significant airflow. Devour Clarity provides complete UV protection (UV400) and features Ri-Pel lens treatment protects from dirt, oil and water, and an anti-scratch coating.
The Kortal Race MIPS Exceptional coverage, uninterrupted ventilation, a fully adjustable fit and integrated technology for enhanced safety. The MTB helmet where boundaries no longer apply. |

The Ventral Lite is the latest helmet to join POC’s cycling family, and the lightest it has ever made. Focused on riders who prioritize weight and ventilation above all else, the newly awarded Ventral Lite has been highly engineered to achieve the optimal balance of weight, safety and performance.
As part of a superlight package for road riders, alongside the Ventral Lite comes the Supreme Rain Jacket which has also been recognized with a Design and Innovation Award for its material innovation. In short it’s a three layer cycling jacket that is so light and breathable you’ll forget you are wearing it.
Commenting on the Ventral Lite launch, Oscar Huss, Head of Product, POC, said “We introduced ourselves to the cycling world in 2014 with the Octal. Our objective then was to bring our safety mission and performance together in a lightweight helmet. After a lot of research and testing the Octal made its debut in the pro peloton and quickly established itself. Starting again from our safety mission, we wanted to take the ideas and concepts from the Octal even further. Riders who are focused on climbing or ride in hotter conditions are extremely conscious about weight, ventilation and comfort, which is where the Ventral Lite, our lightest ever helmet will excel. ”
Based on the Ventral Air's foundations, and taking inspiration from the Octal, every aspect of the Ventral Lite from the adjustment system and straps to the liner and shell, are tuned to deliver optimized safety and protection at the lowest weight possible. The structure has been refined so that a different density of EPS can be used and the outer PC shell is precisely formed. The result is a helmet that in size medium CE standard, weighs a mere 190g, and an incredible 180g for a size small.
Oscar Huss, added – “We strongly believe that the safest helmet is one you choose to wear, one which you always look forward to wearing. With the Ventral Lite, we used our Whole Helmet Concept™ to create a helmet that provides the best protection and still meet the needs of those riders who don’t want to compromise on weight or ventilation. The Ventral Lite will provide the protection those riders deserve without ever noticing it’s there.”
Rain Supreme The Ventral Lite has been recognized for its innovation and was recently awarded a Design and Innovation Award. Another recipient of the Design and Innovation Award is the Supreme Rain Jacket, which will set a new benchmark for a cycling jacket. It includes an advanced three layer fabric that weighs only 51g per meter, is fully waterproof and has a breathability rating that will ensure you never overheat. |
Taking about the Supreme Rain Jacket, Oscar Huss, added - “The Supreme Rain Jacket came from a desire to develop a jacket that would meet a cyclist’s unique demands. By combining advanced fabrics and technology we have created what we believe is the lightest, most breathable, waterproof cycling jacket possible. It’s the only jacket you will ever need, and like the Ventral Lite you might not notice you’re wearing it.” |
The Ventral Lite and Supreme Rain Jacket - don’t be weighed down by performance.

POC is proud to introduce the Omne Eternal, the world’s first self-powered cycling helmet which integrates Powerfoyle, an innovative light-harvesting material, which can convert any light source, indoor or outdoor, into electrical power.
To enhance a rider’s safety on the road, the Omne Eternal features an automatic and self-powered light, which never needs charging with a cable or activation from an on or off switch. Safety and light from clean, endless energy.
Commenting on the release of the Omne Eternal, Jonas Sjögren, POC CEO, said – “Safety and innovation are at the very center of POC’s approach. We can all see the very positive shift towards cycling for transport, health and recreation, but with that change comes the well-documented safety worries and risks that cyclists feel when sharing the road. The Omne Eternal may be a world’s first, featuring groundbreaking solar cell technology, but our focus has been to provide riders with enhanced safety and a seamless user experience. Simply placing the helmet on the head will automatically activate the technology, enhancing safety without ever needing to think about it. And it supports all our efforts towards a more sustainable environment.”
The user’s experience is designed to be seamless, but as is often the case, the technology behind such innovations is highly complex. POC and Exeger, the innovator and manufacturer of Powerfoyle, have been working closely since 2019 to build and test a variety of systems that have resulted in the Omne Eternal, which to most users will look much the same as any other helmet.
Exeger CEO, Giovanni Fili, added, “POC is known for its open-minded and innovative approach to safety and is rightly recognized as the leader in the field. Exeger has over the past decade developed the new generation of fully customizable, durable and sustainable solar cells, creating what others deemed impossible – an innovation with the potential to deliver clean endless energy and to re-define the energy from light. Our long-term partnership with POC is as natural as the light we harvest and we are incredibly excited to be part of the release of the Omne Eternal, which represents a new era of smart helmets to enhance safety for any rider, anywhere in the world.
The unique characteristics of Powerfoyle, is that it allows for seamless integration without compromising design and aesthetics. Powerfoyle harnesses all types of light energy, converting it to electrical energy in an environmentally friendly way.
POC CEO, Jonas Sjögren, continued – “Our ‘Whole helmet concept™’ illustrates that in today’s world a helmet can, and should, do significantly more than manage impacts. By integrating digital solutions we can protect a user before, during and after an accident. Integrating Powerfoyle opens a world of new opportunities, creating helmets with an endless power source is the key to unlocking new ideas and innovations which have the potential to revolutionize safety.”

POC, which has built a reputation on safety, innovation and design, has won three ISPO awards for products and innovations from its new 2021/22 winter collection.
Leading out the ISPO ‘Winner’ awards is a brand new goggle, Zonula Clarity, which introduces a whole new visual experience and field of view to benefit all types of skiers and snowboarders. Another ‘Winner’ and brand new product is the Dimension VPD backpack, which brings POC’s unique perspective to an on and off-piste backpack, protection and material innovation. The final ‘Winner’ is another brand new product aimed not at the skier or snowboarder but at the mountain biker, the Consort MTB dungaree, which will turn all those poor weather days, whatever time of the year, into great experiences thanks to its ability to handle all the conditions.
Commenting on the ISPO awards, Jonas Sjögren, POC CEO, said – “Being selected as a winner of an ISPO award is always a wonderful honour, and very humbling. Even though the winter sports community is incredibly innovative, 2020 has challenged us all like never before. And it speaks volumes about POC’s product development teams that despite all the challenges faced globally, we have still been able to develop and release a range of incredibly innovative products, and not only those that have been lucky enough to have won an ISPO award.”
ISPO Winner_ Zonula Clarity
Zonula Clarity is a goggle designed to open up the world, enhance safety and give a new experience of vast peripheral vision thanks to a brand new and innovative frame design and the use of Clarity lens technology developed with Carl Zeiss. In particular once a user puts on the goggles they will immediately notice the 200°+ field of view. To many it will resonate with an astronauts visor with no edges to interrupt the view.
ISPO Winner_ Dimension VPD backpack
Driven by the idea that the perfect backpack does not yet exist, we wanted to try and create it. For POC this needed to incorporate the highest grade materials e.g. Dimension polyant and VPD. It also needs to be versatile and functional, which is why the carrying options, pocket distribution and entry zones are so critical. It also needed to be the catalyst to a day out, not a burden, which is why its size, integrated safety, robustness and comfort is so precise, so you always want to wear it.
ISPO Winner_ Consort MTB dungaree
This MTB dungaree will be the mountain bike rider’s best friend, their Consort. Designed to effortlessly manage all bad weather conditions, the Consort has been created to banish the start or end of a season and replace it with never-ending riding. With the Consort you will be able to ride in all conditions as it is waterproof, extremely breathable, flexible, ride specific and reinforced with Cordura for durability and abrasion resistance.
Commenting on the complete 2021/22 collection, POC CEO, Jonas Sjögren, added - “I am particularly proud to present all the new and updated products we have developed, there are many which naturally stand out, such as the Meninx helmets and the Oseus VPD layer, but the whole collection is infused with POC’s mission and approach. The quality and breadth of the collection is a true testament to the drive and innovation of our product development teams and I hope it will inspire all and build a brighter year ahead.”
POC’s new 2020/21 collection also includes a host of new products, including the Meninx and Meninx RS MIPS, a brand new helmet platform created for the ‘free’ skier, not the freeskier. Developed with a nod to classical ski racing and helmet design, but which will set a new benchmark with clean lines hiding layers of technology and innovation.
In addition a brand new seamless base layer protection system, Oseus VPD Layer, (image below) integrates a back protector that has been designed for both winter sports and mountain biking. The Layer is made with a wool polyester blend to provide warmth and durability and has the same compression as regular base layers. In addition the Layer incorporates a certified VPD back protector with integrated pockets and extended details to support all year round snow or bike use.
The Women’s Loft Parka, inspired by the ISPO award-winning Loft Parka, is the jacket when your aim is to stay fully protected from the elements in the mountains and still be able to ski. Developed especially for race skiers in the harsh conditions on a mountain hillside but also the favourite piece in the valley when you are done skiing for the day.
The POCito Auric Cut MIPS is introduced and offers serious multi-impact safety for kids on the mountain. Developed with our Whole Helmet Concept™ the helmet features a RECCO® reflector, an integrated LED panel and MIPS Brain Protection System, as well as traditional POCito features including a highly visible fluorescent colorways and reflective details. POCito Fornix and Obex are both updated, including the integration of MIPS.
Virtually the entire ‘Race Stuff’ collection is new or updated. The collection of race-related apparel and protection covers everything racers need for training and competition. From precisely designed warm and protective outer layers for warm-up while waiting for training or race runs, such as the Frisson Pant, to skin suits and body armor for the performance and safety needed in a race run. It’s a competitor’s complete package.

POC, which has built an international reputation on safety, innovation and design, and MIPS, the Swedish safety technology company partnering with many helmet brands with its world leading Brain Protection System, are announcing a deeper partnership. The new collaboration will see POC implement MIPS systems in many of its helmets starting with a new POCito Crane which will be released in late summer 2020. In addition the new partnership will consider new, enhanced rotational protection systems, which will be developed specifically for a number of POC performance helmets to be released in 2021.
Commenting on the new collaboration, POC CEO, Jonas Sjögren, said – “Safety is at the very center of POC and our approach has always been to consider everything to improve safety, even if that means doing something that has never been done before. This was the basis for our initial collaboration with MIPS in 2009, where we were the first ever to integrate a rotational impact protection system in snow sports and cycling helmets.”
Max Strandwitz, MIPS CEO, said - “MIPS is committed to protect any brain from injury through our helmet-based Brain Protection System and we have more than twenty years of research and testing to support our activities. We are very happy to collaborate with POC, not only as an acknowledged leader in safety and the manufacturer that brought MIPS to the market, but also as they have continued to push new thinking and innovations. Our combined efforts, maximizing each other’s strengths, will ultimately lead to enhancements in safety for all."
MIPS is the leader in the field of rotational impact protection and the renewed partnership will give POC the opportunity to focus on new innovations under development around its Whole helmet concept, which is built on holistic helmet safety, creating helmets that are able to protect a user before, during and after an accident.
POC CEO, Jonas Sjögren, continued – “Even if safety is better understood that does not mean we can stand still. We have to keep looking ahead to consider and evaluate what we have and what we need for the future. Our Whole helmet concept illustrates that in today’s world a helmet can, and should, do significantly more than just manage impacts. The best protection comes from not having an impact at all, and a helmet can protect you before, during and after an accident, whether it’s visibility, aramid barriers or NFC medical ID chips. With our renewed partnership with MIPS we know that rotational impact protection will be in good hands, our job will be to expand our curiosity, open mindedness and leave no stone unturned in search of new innovations and enhanced safety for the benefit of all.”

Volvo Cars, a leader in automotive safety, is teaming up with top Swedish sports and safety brand POC for a series of world-first crash tests of bike helmets against cars as part of a groundbreaking new research project that aims to further protect cyclists.
The partnership is the latest example of Volvo Cars’ leading position in safety development and its ambition to improve road safety for all through a collaboration and knowledge-sharing approach.
Accidents between bikes and vehicles can often lead to serious injury or death, which is why Volvo Cars has a clear strategy to avoid these types of accidents completely with the help of active safety technologies.
Cyclist detection with full auto brake uses the car’s cameras and radars to detect cyclists, warn the driver of an imminent collision and apply the brakes if further action is needed. It is a development of Volvo Cars’ automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection systems, in line with its safety vision.
The Volvo-POC research project consists of a number of specially designed crash tests at the famous Volvo Cars safety research facilities in Gothenburg, Sweden and is part of a wider research project to understand the types of long-term injuries sustained by cyclists.
During these tests, POC bike helmets are worn by crash dummy heads mounted on a testing rig, from where they are launched towards different areas of the hood of a static Volvo car, at different speeds and angles for various measurements.
The tests are based on existing regulatory test procedures for pedestrian head protection. This allows Volvo Cars and POC to make a direct comparison between wearing a helmet and not wearing a helmet.
Current bike helmet testing procedures are fairly rudimentary, involving helmets being dropped from different heights on either a flat or an angled surface, and do not take into account vehicle to bike accidents. The Volvo-POC project aims to further refine and advance such testing.
The learnings from the research project will help POC make its helmets safer and more protective in the event of a car-bike accident, while the tests will also provide valuable insights and learnings for Volvo Cars into these types of accidents for future development.
“This project with POC is a good example of our pioneering spirit in safety,” said Malin Ekholm, head of the Volvo Cars Safety Centre and one of the company’s leading safety engineers. “We often develop new testing methods for challenging traffic scenarios. Our aim is not only to meet legal requirements or pass rating tests. Instead we go beyond ratings, using real traffic situations to develop technology that further improves safety.”
With over 60 international awards for safety, innovation and design, POC has built a reputation for challenging conventonial wisdom and looking at new research, science and innovation to bring forward new ways of thinking to reduce accidents.
“Much like Volvo Cars, safety is at the very centre of our mission and drives all our ideas and innovations,” says Oscar Huss, head of product development at POC. “By working closely with scientific leaders in the POC Lab we strive to lead the way in introducing new safety ideas. Certification standards are essential, but they should never limit our willingness to look beyond their parameters to find better and more innovative ways to reduce the consequences of accidents.”
In recent years Volvo Cars has focused on also protecting people outside its cars. For example, Volvo Cars launched its pedestrian detection with full autobrake in 2010 and cyclist detection with full auto brake in 2013. Both technologies come as standard in all Volvo cars as part of the City Safety package and have helped to improve overall traffic safety.
In an earlier collaboration, Volvo Cars and POC worked on a pilot to connect bike helmets with cars in order to help avoid accidents.

]]>Slipstream Sports formally unveiled the 2018 Team EF Education First – Drapac p/b Cannondale kit at the Rouleur Classic in London on Friday afternoon. Swedish road champion Kim Magnusson donned the race kit, created by apparel, eye and helmet partner POC, on stage alongside Slipstream Sports founder and CEO Jonathan Vaughters, sport director Andreas Klier and POC’s head of sports marketing Sara Laurell.
Long-time fans of the American-registered squad will note the distinctive argyle pattern for which Vaughters’ team has become known is retained in the kit design, featured in the green band on the jersey sleeve and bib cuffs. New for the 2018 season is the distinctive pink of incoming title partner EF Education First.
“When we began the kit design process with our team partners we started by studying the peloton,” said EF Education First worldwide creative director Joel Hladecek. “It became clear pretty early on that we’d need to do something very bold to help the team cut through the visual clutter. Fortunately, EF has spent five decades opening the world through education, understanding and uniting people across borders and cultures, and giving them the tools to communicate.”
“From a design perspective, we’ve learned a thing or two about capturing peoples’ attention, no matter where they are in the world,” Hladecek added. “It’s one of the reasons we’ve come to use a shocking, disruptive pink as part of our brand. It’s universally exciting and always demands attention. We decided to employ the strength of that color as a primary element in the design of the team kit. But as you can see there is a lot more going on in the new kit design than shocking pink.”
“From the inception of the team, we’ve always tried to push the boundaries of design and color,” said Slipstream Sports CEO and founder Jonathan Vaughters. “This kit is no exception. It is bold. But don’t lose track of the subtle argyle we’ve included. It’s been over a decade of argyle, and we are happy that will continue.”
The race jersey features the characteristic two-tone paneling and the lines of POC. A white panel dominates the front of the jersey below a smaller pink panel. From the back of the jersey, the reverse holds true, with the pink panel commanding the majority of the real estate and enhancing the bold contrast for safety and visibility. Black shorts feature the Drapac, Cannondale, New Balance and POC logos.
“It was a pleasure to work with our new friends and the partnership group at Slipstream Sports, including Drapac, Cannondale and POC, whose teams each contributed valuable components to the final design, and together, really did something uncommon,” said Hladecek. “Normally, the challenge when designing a kit like this is that you have many partners all vying for attention, each with their own design constraints and demands. I’m quite proud that this group came together and harmonized our brands in a way that make this kit feel considered and intentional. In some way I think our solution is what we would have done with complete freedom, and that says a lot.”
In addition to the race kit, a specific training kit for 2018 was introduced at the Rouleur Classic. The training kit, which has a noticeably different color palette, adds further security for riders during training rides, especially when they are out on public roads.
Commenting on the new kit, POC CEO Jonas Sjögren, said: “The new race and training kit, which we have designed with our team partners, focuses on the importance of visibility. Contrast paneling and the use of specific colors is a reflection of our commitment to rider safety during a race or training rides on open roads. In particular, the panel design and lines on the rear of the jersey improve the perception and recognition distance of a rider by creating a recognizable profile further away.”
“Ever since we released our first road specific collection, AVIP, in 2014 we have been vocal advocates for enhanced rider safety through innovative technology and visibility, we are proud to work with a WorldTour team which operates in a unique, high-performance environment,” Sjögren added. “The experience and feedback we gain from the riders is an important tool which allows us to continually improve, innovate and refine our award-winning products and further support our safety mission.”
The 2018 season is the fifth season that Slipstream Sports has partnered with POC. From 2014 – 2016, POC supplied Slipstream Sports with helmets and eyewear. From 2017, POC became the official apparel partner, supplying all apparel and accessories in addition to helmets and eyewear.
“POC is always ahead of the curve, whether it be with safety or with design,” said Vaughters.” We couldn’t be prouder of helping them introduce the future, today.”
Ahead of the official launch at the Rouleur Classic, a trio of Team EF Education First – Drapac p/b Cannondale riders sported the new colors in Japan ahead of the ASO Sanitama Criterium. Simon Clarke and Rigoberto Uran could be seen in the race kit while Tom Van Asbroeck showed off the new training look. On Saturday, Nate Brown will ride in the 2018 race kit while hosting his charity ride in Tennessee.
